These days, if you do not find our new Assistant Pastor Fr. Jesuraj generously serving others through his duties as a priest, you might find him creating wonders with a paintbrush.

“My favorite aspect of the priesthood is service, and I have a real heart for serving God's people,” he says. “I am also an artist. I love to paint oil paintings of nature and the beauty of creation, such as of flowers. The beauty of nature shows that God always loves us, and He always provides us with what we need. This is what I tell people when I show them my paintings.”

And you may find him bringing hope and peace to those around him through his artwork.

“Sometimes, I give my paintings to people to encourage them to do good works, help those in need, and carry on the Word of God to others,” Fr. Jesuraj says.

From an early age, Fr. Jesuraj has wanted to share the goodness and love of Our Creator with those around him. His devout parents planted these holy desires in his soul, and for this he is profoundly grateful.

“I was raised in India by devout Catholic parents,” he says. “My parents are regular church-goers, and they never missed Mass when I was growing up. They always used to take me to church with them, and this really nurtured my faith in God, as well as my vocation to become a priest.”

As a priest of 40 years, Fr. Jesuraj belongs to the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, otherwise known as the “Pallottine Fathers.” This zealous religious order holds the charism of being helpful to people in their time of need. Their founder, St. Vincent Pallotti, was born in Rome in 1795 and was well-known for founding the Union of Catholic Apostolate. He inspired people of all walks of life to minister to those in need and treat them with loving and tender concern.

On March 22, Fr. Jesuraj came to the United States for the first time in his life. So far, his experience in our country has been a great one.

“America is a very wonderful place!” he says. “The people have been so kind and welcoming to me. They talk nicely to me, and they are very joyful and hospitable. I am so happy to be here.”

When asked what he is most looking forward to during his time with us at St. Michael's, the opportunity to serve our community is something he will undoubtedly embrace.

“I am looking forward to serving the people liturgically and helping them grow in their Catholic faith," he says. "I am especially devoted to Mother Mary, and I hope to promote devotion to her in the parish as well.”

As we welcome Fr. Jesuraj with open arms and hearts, we entrust him and his priestly work to Mary, Mother of Priests.
