Belk Department Stores Charity Sale Event
God’s Own Children Ministryis participating in the Belk Department Stores Charity Sale event. This is a wonderful opportunity for this ministry and a true blessing from God.
Every year, Belk has a special charity sale in November, which is Friday, November 8 through Sunday, November 10, and a ticket is required to attend the sales event. The cost of the ticket is $5.00, however, printed on the ticket is a barcode for $5.00 off your first purchase and a second barcode for an additional 25% off. The purchaser of the ticket also has the option of shopping early from October 29 to November 7, reserving their items and then picking them up during the sale dates of November 8 to November 10.
GOC keeps the $5.00 for every ticket sold. The tickets will be on sale in the Narthex on Sunday, October 20, after all Masses. The funds raised support GOC projects such as their December Parents Night Out and hygiene supplies for The Awareness Project. - Monthly Mass dedicated to individuals with disabilities and their families – 3rd Monday at 6:00 PM, followed by refreshments and fellowship. The next Mass is Monday, October 21.
- Public school advocacy.
- Employment resources.
- Monthly meeting/social event – 3rd Monday at 6:30 PM (following the monthly Mass).
- Quarterly informational seminars.

School Supply Drive Results
Thanks to the generous support of St. Michael parishioners, God’s Own Children ministry had a very successful school supply drive.
GOC collect enough backpacks and supplies for the following:
90 backpacks filled with supplies were given away to families in need at The Awareness Project.
Also, another 25 backpacks filled with supplies as well as various other school supply items were donated to Midway Park Elementary. Midway park Principle and staff were thrilled to receive them.
We also had enough supplies left to assemble 50 packets of supplies to be given out at Christmas time to help resupply children for the spring semester.
This has been a very successful summer of collecting school supplies, thank you to everyone who donated.
God’s Own Children ministry members had a great time filling backpacks with school supplies. 50 backpacks were donated by church members and there were enought school supply donations to fill all of them! Backpacks were distributed at TAP on August 10th and any additional supplies collected will be given to a school in the HEBISD school district.
In June, we celebrated the second anniversary of our St. Michael God's Own Children Ministry and Mass!
