Food Service Ministry

Mission:  To share our time and treasures with the residents of Arlington Life Shelter (ALS).


Who: St. Michael parishioners 18 and older who have been through the Diocesan Safe Environment Program. Children ages 11 - 17, need parents present, to serve and participate in this ministry, keeping in mind their safety and the need to be sanitary when serving food to the residents. 


Goal: Prepare and serve food to the Arlington Life Shelter residents. 


Dinners

When: 4th Tuesday and 4th Friday of January, March, May, July, September, November

Time: Dinner is served promptly between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Arlington Life Shelter.  Please arrive between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Departure is after 7:00 p.m. and the kitchen is cleaned.

Sack Lunches

Periodically, we need volunteers to help assemble sack lunches for Arlington Life Shelter residents. It's on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., and we meet in the parish kitchen. We request your help in donating food items to make sandwiches, and your time to put them together.

Arlington Life Shelter Volunteer Requirements:

1) Fill out the online volunteer application

2) Complete Texas Food Handler Training

In order to volunteer in the Hearts of Faith Kitchen, they need to have this certification on file at the shelter. The training is online and takes approximately 1 1/2 hours. Cost is $7.95.
