6:00 PM (right after 5:00 PM Mass)

All are invited to join us for this St. Michael parish-wide event, the Annual Las Posadas.  The celebration begins right after Mass in the Narthex, with Mary, Joseph and an angel leading the procession.  Our travelers will move from “Inn” to “Inn” asking for Posada.  We will end with a reception in the Great Hall with a dinner, desserts, Christmas carols, Pinata, and candies and lots of fun!

What is a Posada?

The traditional Hispanic celebration called Posada is an Advent retelling of the journey of Joseph and Mary seeking shelter in la posada, or inn, prior to the birth of Jesus. Joseph, Mary, and a guardian angel lead the re-enactment. The group travels in procession to three pre-arranged “houses”. At each house Mary and Joseph, ask for shelter through a song. Some of the participants sing along with them, asking the household for lodging. Others play the role of an innkeeper who reject the seekers. At the third house, the household recognizes Mary and Joseph and welcomes them.

Bring your family and friends for a fun and wonderful experience!
