Staff Member: Sarah Messecar
When Sarah Messecar, our new Liturgy Coordinator, wakes up in the morning, she can't help but be overjoyed that “going to work” also means “going to church.”
“I love my job!” she says. “I worked as a project manager for many years. I had to travel all the time. Now that I am retired, I am so thankful that I get to come to Mass every day, and work at my own parish.”
Since joining St. Michael in 1991, Sarah has served in numerous capacities, such as by serving as Wedding Coordinator and working in RCIA. Between her experience with ministries and the secular job she held, God prepared her in beautiful ways for her new position.
“At my former job, I coordinated and managed many things, which is similar to what I'm doing now,” she says. “It has been wonderful to use the talents that I honed over all those years for the Church. I absolutely see my new job as a way of living out my commitment to stewardship.”
As Liturgy Coordinator, Sarah is responsible for coordinating and scheduling our parish Greeters, Altar Servers, Children's Liturgy of the Word Ministers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Ushers, and Sacristans. She shares ministry training responsibilities with Joanne Werner. Since she started in January, she has been compiling the contact and scheduling information for our liturgical ministry volunteers and working on setting up an efficient organizational system.
In all, Sarah is glad to be here, and we are very grateful to have her. “The people at our parish are fun to be around, and always willing to help me when I need something,” she says.
Sarah has two married sons and five grandchildren.
