Joanne Werner, our Director of Music, has ministered for 33 years in the Diocese of Fort Worth. Here at St. Michael she has shared her knowledge, talent and passion for liturgy for 16 years. Joanne has three grown children and eight grandchildren.

Joanne grew up in Great Falls, Montana and received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano from Holy Names University in Oakland, California and a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Montana. She served on the music faculties at Montana State University and the University of Texas El Paso.

During her time here at St. Michael Joanne has developed one of the finest choirs in the Diocese. They have traveled on pilgrimage to Italy, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain and France. With the assistance of Laine Keller, Gayle Lambert and Ricardo Martinez she takes great pride in the music program developed here at St. Michael.

Joanne has served actively in the National Association of Pastoral Musicians both as a member of the board dedicated to professional musicians and as a member of the National Board of Directors, serving as Chair of the Board for a term. She is known nationally for her work as a clinician for cantors. Joanne completed the distinguished certification for pastoral musicians – Certified Director of Music Ministries - in 2011.
