December 16, 2018
Everyone is invited to join us for an evening of celebration, food, Las Posada and XLT (Exalt). The Eighth Bilingual Posada is coupled with XLT.
What is Posada? The traditional Latin celebration called Posada is an Advent retelling of the journey of Joseph and Mary seeking shelter in la posada, or inn, prior to the birth of Jesus. Joseph, Mary, and a guardian angel lead the re-enactment. The group travels in procession to three pre-arranged “houses”. At each house Mary and Joseph, ask for shelter through a song. Some of the participants sing along with them, asking the household for lodging. Others play the role of an innkeeper who reject the seekers. At the third house, the household recognizes Mary and Joseph and welcomes them.
What is XLT? Exalt (XLT) is a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ that will help you grow in your faith. It incorporates praise and worship music led by a live band, with a simple teaching, followed by a Holy Hour with Eucharistic Adoration.
This is an entire parish celebration held on Gaudete Sunday, December 16, 2018. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. with a Piñata and candies, as well as a simple meal, Las Posada and prayer and worship of the Blessed Sacrament (XLT).
What do I need to bring? Your entire family! You may also bring side dishes for the meal, musical instruments such as tambourines, or maracas, your rosary and wear comfortable, warm clothes.
