St. Michael provides assistance to parishioners and the greater community through financial help, counseling services, educational preparation programs and more.
Christian Connection offers assistance with food, rent or other needs. Christian Connection is one of the social ministry outreach programs of St. Michael Catholic Church helping our parishioners and individuals from the H.E.B. area. Funded by contributions from our parishioners, Christian Connection provides temporary, emergency assistance for rent, utilities, minor miscellaneous expense and minor car repair. Pharmacy, gas and food vouchers are available. Assistance is limited to twice in a twelve month period of time.
Literacy Project - Learn to Read/ESL/GED
Do you know someone who does not know how to read? Christian Connection sponsors a Literacy Program - Learning to Read. It is held each Saturday morning from 9-10am If you know anyone who would like to be a student in the program or a volunteer to help, please contact Christian Connection, 817-510-2734.
The Literacy Project – Learning to Read is expanding to include assistance for those working on their GED. If you did not have an opportunity to graduate from your high school and you want get your GED, stop by Christian Connection on Saturdays between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m to meet with John Kennedy who is coordinating this effort. There is no charge for this program.
HEB Transit – If you are under the age of 55 and need transportation Monday through Friday, you may obtain HEB Transit passes through Christian Connection. Please call 817-510-2741 or stop by our office Monday through Friday, 9am-12 noon for more information.
Catholic Charities also provides financial assistance through long-term case management. A caseworker is available on-site. To make an appointment, please call 817-921-5381.
